Let’s Get to Work!

September 10, 2009

Let’s Get to Work! This slogan is appropriate on many fronts.

First of all, we need to get serious about creating jobs in St. Lucie County. In July 2009, over 18,000 of us and our neighbors are out of work. This represents 14.7% of our workforce. It is time to get St. Lucie County back to work!

I acknowledge there has been recent success in recruiting companies. I’m proud this success in part resulted in the use of incentives I help to create. No matter how good its been, no one should claim the current effort is good enough. We need new ideas and initiatives. To see some of those I proposed, go to Get Serious about Economic Development.

Secondly, Let’s Get to Work! implies the need for us to pull together. It is important to we renew our care for one another. Would we need as many policemen if everyone treated each other with greater love and respect? Would we need as many judges, state attorneys, public defenders, clerks and other personnel in our courtrooms? Would we need to financially support social service agencies at the same level? There is an economic benefit to utilizing the Golden Rule in our society.

Lastly, it represents my personal appeal for your help! I need your help in the form of your volunteer time, financial support and, most importantly, your vote. Once elected, I will need your input, encouragement and, from time to time, physical presence to implement ideas, initiatives, and programs so that together we can make a difference in the lives of all St. Lucie Countians.

It seems to me that there is a lot of work to be done. If you agree, I invite you to join me so together we can accomplish much for the benefit of our county. Let’s Get to Work, St. Lucie County. Let’s Get to Work!
